Management and valorize of cultural heritage

Cities of tomorrow, their identity and cultural heritage, its protection, renovation and new usage.
Industrialization era. Current situation of industrial heritage, abandoned factories, new owners, temporary usage, dangers. Conversion of industrial heritage as part of development heritage programme.
In the study programmes “Architecture and Urban Design” the course is part of the theoretical courses.

- Identity of historically grown towns and cities, their significant periods.
- Period of industrialization in urbanistic structure of towns and cities. Industry as a motor for the development of towns and cities.
- Brno – textile and machinery industry in the 19th and 20th century, Svitava river zone. New functional usage.
- Excursion.
- Zlín – model industrial town founded by T. Baťa, conservation zone, ways of conservation.
- Excursion.
- Ostrava – mining and steelworks industry in urban structure of the city. Mining phase-out programmes. Ways of conservation, development programmes.
- Excursion.
- International examples of cultural heritage conservation and renovation.
- Management, conservation, valorisation of cultural heritage. Educational programmes for students, town council officials, and general public.
- Workshop – functional, urbanistic, architectural, and social transformation of a selected factory.
- Workshop – graphic presentation.
- Evaluation of the workshop, public presentation of the results.
