Course detail
Selected Chapters of Air-conditioning
FAST-NTB027Acad. year: 2026/2027
The course consists of issues of the design and operation of HVAC (airconditioning) systems. They presented methods for solving complex approach that respects the dynamic behavior of the boundary conditions of design and operation.
A fundamental task is the thermal behavior of rooms, filtration, cooling, humidification, drying, ventilation and air-conditioning heat exchangers design. The findings are the basis for the design of ventilation systems and specialized civil buildings with high requirements on the internal microclimate (eg. Cleanrooms).

Aims
Professional Knowledge
The student understands advanced principles of the design and operation of ventilation and air-conditioning systems and their influence on the indoor environment. The student understands the principles of air filtration, cooling, humidification and dehumidification, airflow and the operation of air-conditioning heat exchangers.
Professional Skills
The student is able to design and assess ventilation and air-conditioning systems taking into account dynamic boundary conditions and the thermal behaviour of rooms. The student is able to solve basic air treatment and distribution problems and apply them in the design of systems for non-residential and specialised buildings.
Professional Competence
The student is able to independently design and assess complex ventilation and air-conditioning systems for buildings with higher requirements for indoor environmental quality.
